I am converting a 15' x 22' Shop into a Home Theater and I need some suggestions in how to configure it. It has two small windows down one side (the 22' legth) of it and then it has a 36" wide door at one end(the 14' width) of it. I am trying to figure out if I should put my 110" Fixed Screen on one of the side walls and put the projector on the opposite wall or hould I put the screen where the the end wall where the door is on the end wall. I will be using a Epson 6100 Projector and according to the various sites should have an optimum 14'8" throw distance for the 110" screen.

Is there a reason that you can't center on the end wall which doesn't have the door. Most folks set their home theater long way for optimal rows of seating. The only time I really see the wide dimension is to get more seats in when they don't have enough depth in the room. Not your case according to your description. Do you have a floor plan? Is this in the basement? provide as much detail as you can and you will get others to chime in and help you. Good luck.

Yeah, Oman is right; without more details (which a floorplan or sketch would help), you'd ideally want to plan to put the screen on the wall opposite the door, and keep the door at the back of the theater. Is that door centered on that wall, or more to one side or another? If it's on the side, you can plan to have that be the entrance-way...if it's more centered, you might plan to step up or walk around to a riser. With 22' of length, you have a little room to work with.

The door is to the left side and is the only entrance to the room. It is a metal building ajacent to my house and we framed it in already and it has R-19 insulation and 5/8" sheetrock in all of the walls and there is paneling over the sheetrock.

I will try to draw a floor plan and post it.
