Hey guys, I looked through other threads but they mostly were about vaulted ceilings...

I have a drop ceiling with 2 foot squares. I was wondering what would be the best brand that would work with a Panasonic AE3000 projector? I'm sure there are lots of mounts out there but which one is the best or least expensive?

The reason I was asking was because I had a plasma TV that I bought a few years back and I just bought the universal piece of junk that Best Buy had laying around. It was terrible. Later on a buddy recommended I buy a "PEERLESS" brand mount and it rocks! It's on a swivel and can tilt any direction I want.

I don't wanna get stuck with a bad mount again so what would be a good one to install up into my drop ceiling?

Unfortunately, like everything else, best and least expensive rarely go together. Personally, I prefer Chief Manufacturing mounts. They give you a ton of flexibility and have all the bits and pieces to do pretty much whatever you want and need to do.

So is Chief Manufacturing in the cheap catagory or the really good catagory? When I bought my Peerless swivel-mount for my 42" Plasma, that thing was perfect!

What I'm looking for is a really solid product that I don't mind paying slightly more for. What I don't need is some overhyped, over marketed name brand (like Monster Cable) that will do the same as a no-name universal mount.

As far as mounts go, what should I look for? Do some mounts have more options then others? Things like the ability to fine tune the adjustments to get your projector just right or some sort of easy mounting bracket? I have no idea...

Thanks for any help! I'm almost done with my home theatre thanks to you guys.

I've had both peerless and chief. There is no contest...chief hands down is the better mount. Peerless works on a swivel/ball joint. Chief allows for adjusting each of the individual elements (pitch etc). The problem resides with a swivel...change one element and it may disturb or cause a problem in another area. Can it be done...yes..with ease maybe not. I pay the difference and get the chief ...buy the universal mount. I've used the same chief universal mount for four different projectors...no need to change.

I visited the Chief Manufacturing website and they have this calculator thingy that you build what you need piece-by-piece... It's pretty cool.

There are a few parts that I don't know what they do so I still might have to call them.

There are 2 basic types they sell... the normal RPA series and the RPM (RPA Elite) that focuses on quick and easy installation?? Whats the difference?

This thread has helped me as well. I just bought my first pj and the retailer recommended chief as well. He said they sell alot to churches and school that carry heavy equipment. Looks like I'll be going with chief as well.
