Apologies to the regulars if this has been posted, but couldnt get search to show it.
I've made two UHF'ers after reading the entire, yes- entire DIY thread. The four bow tie works as well as the store bought- go figure. (killer thread btw, incredible info, never knew some of you made an extreme hobby out of the antenna, and simply tolerate the noobs who wander in here and ask dumb questions.
Question, any modifications or tweaks to improve the AVAYON DB2 I purchased before I found this site?
my zip is 44256 and although there is a cluster of UHF towers 15-20 miles N/NE from here, my homemade two and four bowtie, and the DB2 dont seem to cut it. antenna sites say a yellow should work-so realistically the homemade or DB2 should pull them in.
I get 2-4 with any of my antennas be they in the attic, in the living room, or run a 40' cable outside to see if just getting it out 6' off the ground and away from the aluminum sided house made a diff...not really as far as I could tell.
Before I climb on the roof, mount it to find it really wont cut it I'd ask if I can improve upon this base design, or need to go to a 4 BT version?
An amp? Or should I save my self a ton of aggrevation, time and send back the DB2 and get something larger.
Or, will getting it on the roof really make that huge of a difference?
While making my own was really enlightening, I dont see putting one outside and left to the elements.
best regards, thanks in advance-
