Looking for a little help in calibrating a Sony VW50 projector. I have two issues that I think are related to gray-scale, would appreciate some pointers.
First, the darker areas of the picture, just a bit brighter than black, seem to have a very slight red tint.
Secondly, I have a very slightly blue ring around highlights, just slightly less bright than total white. This is actually a bit more annoying as highlights tend to move and change more often.
Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings
First issue ... grayscale issue. Go to red bias and turn that down. Eyeball method. OR you have to buy instrumentation if you want more accuracy. Or hire a pro to fix it.
Issue 2 ... how high is the contrast set?

Thanks, taking down the red bias a few notches did help the tint in shadows.
As for the contrast, it's currently set at 80 (per quick calibrations using DVD Essentials). Turning it down doesn't seem to fix the blue circles around bright areas. Could this be something related to the RCP?

Is this on content, or on test patterns? Much content has artificial EE/sharpness added to it, you may just be seeing that. Check for this ringing on known test patterns that are free from any such artifacts to make sure it's not your system. If not present on test patterns, you are seeing source content artifacts which you unfortunately cannot really correct.

It's on content only, but I would say it is definitely not EE/sharpness artifacts. It's almost at though one level of brightness, just below the brightest level, is blue tinted. Notice it most often around highlights on face tones but sometimes in other colors as well. Always seems to be a bit blue and moves/changes as the highlight moves/changes.
One thing to add, though it likely makes no difference, is that Sony service recently replaced the entire optical block on this projector so it shouldn't have anything to do with aging. When setting it up, I used some parameters found on the internet as a starting point and altered to DVD Essentials.
