I have read on several spots that 2" is best but most on this forum seen to use 1". Why? Cost? Ease?

Also, I am looking to make frames like GPowers but thought that I would just just 2"x2" instead of ripping MDF and plywood. This would allow for 2" linacoustic. Any thoughts?

2x2s are actually 1 1/2 x 1 1/2. One inch Linacoustic is one inch.

It depends on the overall treatment plan. When I hired Bpape to do an analysis of my old room (treatments were scrapped when I moved) he spec'd 1" in some areas, 2" in other.

I picked up some 2x2's from my local lumber yard that really were 2" by 2". So they are possible to find. However, it through me for quite a loop when I was doing some framing and had them mixed in with 2x2's from Lowe's!
