Hey everyone,
I was just at Abt and they had a theatre room that had acoustic panels that were movie posters and even a very large one of the Chicago skyline.

I asked the sales guy where I could find those and nobody in the store could figure out where to get them or how much they cost?

To describe exactly what they look like:
1. It was made out of your basic acoustic panel. (Felt a bit like a puffy fiberglass board)
2. On top of the panel was a silk screen that looked like a movie poster
3. They placed a typical wood frame around the poster to make it look like a typical movie poster

Anyone know where I could find something like this or how much it would cost?

I don't know about those specific ones, but Auralex has several different pictures/posters/scenes for acoustic panels and you can even upload your own artwork to make panels out of if you desire.

I think most of their 24X36 panels are about $250.

Be ready to $pend!! Since seeing a few different ones around here I was very interested in them as well due to getting function and decor from it. But after calling around and getting price details my interest went away very quickly. I would love to do them, they look amazing, but couldn't bring myself (at least right now) to $200-$400 per panel depending on size, frame, and vendor. I liked the set-up / options GIK is offering

The key to making these panels is to find a printer that does large format printing on fabric. Maybe you can find one locally and do some DIY panels, You need to provide the image in a format and resolution suitable for the job.

If you want to read more about this google "dye sublimation fabric printing".

It is a growing business.

Hmmm, find a printer that can print on fabric huh? I like the sound of that. Any clues on what type of business would have something like that?

I'll do a Google search right now... Because there is no way I'm gonna spend $200 and up on a movie poster.

could you not just buy an acoustic panel and put a regular poster on it then frame it?

Sure, if you wanted to cancel out the purpose of the acoustic panel even being there! The materials used on the printed covers are acoustically transparent.;)
