Is anyone else using this unit? (Spyder2 TV) I would really like to know what other people think of it. It's pretty simple to use and since it's USB it works on all of our installers computer. Feedback?:D

It's pretty simple to use and since it's USB it works on all of our installers computer. Feedback?:D Most current meters, either retail-oriented or more robust, have a USB interface of some flavor. For some, it is a pretty primitive interface (oddly, on some high-end gear), for others it is pretty robust. We used to recommend the Spyder2 hardware to people until we had enough of a sample in-house to start getting a feel for what the product consistency is. We no longer recommend the Spyder2. For low-cost meters, the EyeOne DisplayLT is what we consider to be the best in terms of price/performance, despite being considerably more expensive than the lowest-cost Spyder2. The Spyder Platinum meters, on the other hand, are very good, but still suffer from incredibly long integration times. At that price point, the Chroma 5 becomes the meter to consider. Hope this helps! Bill Bear5k 03-13-09, 02:15 PM I don't know of any Professionals who use the Spyders on customer's video displays.. well, until today... This used to be much more common, especially when people were calibrating CRTs. If you got a "good" one, then it was very good (e.g., Spyder Platinum, above). However, the quality distribution is so large and integration times are so slow that few around here continue to use it. I do know that Colorvision sold a few of their installer kits to various companies, so these are still out there. Bill |
