Yeah, not sure what it was. Every other boss fight was pretty easy and took no more than one or two tries. The combination of knives and guns in the second wave was really killing me.

I ended up beating it right away with nearly full health once I discovered a great trick:

I hung out in the top right corner near the gun cabinet and the electric fence. I managed to knock half the dudes into the fence (instant kill) and the rest I just made sure to keep away from the gun cabinet. The knife dudes I got into the fence right away, and I just kept using evade over and over if I needed to get to the gun cabinet to knock some dude out. Ended the game with close to full health.

Now to finish collecting the riddler stuff, then onto the challenge rooms. Really outstanding game. Great combination of Bioshock (setting), Metroid (level layout), and Assassin's Creed (combat). There are some issues with the combat here and there though (occasionally bad camera angles, way too difficult to "aim" you next strike in a combo). Otherwise, nothing negative to say about it.

I take it then it's possible to go back to get remaining Riddler challenges after the final boss battle and that credits won't automatically start to roll to end the game. I'm getting close to the end and wonder if I may hit a "point of no return" as happens in a game like Bioshock. Thanks.

I finally found all the riddler clues, and am now working on the challenges. I'm not having as much fun as I hoped I would. I usually love score attack modes and leaderboard features, but I just don't feel it in this game. Anyone else feel the same way?I hear ya. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the game, and finding all the riddles, but since beating it I just haven't had much interest in going back to it. I played through each challenge at least once just to try them, but since then I haven't even bothered downloading the new DLC. I really liked the combat and stealth systems in this game, but for some reason when those sequences are removed from the story context (i.e., Challenge mode) I just don't find them very engaging.I take it then it's possible to go back to get remaining Riddler challenges after the final boss battle and that credits won't automatically start to roll to end the game. I didn't take to the challenges much either that's the reason why I haven't gotten the platinum for this game. If it were fun, I'd be all over it. It really just feels tacked on after such a stellar single-player experience.

I really liked the combat and stealth systems in this game, but for some reason when those sequences are removed from the story context (i.e., Challenge mode) I just don't find them very engaging.I honestly think it's because this game is more than the sum of its parts. If you isolate just combat (or just stealth), it isn't very good. The combat works in the context of the story because it doesn't matter that the controls aren't super tight or very accurate. You just go with it.

But when you're trying to keep a combo going (and trying to go for a full combo), it matters a lot that the controls aren't as responsive as they could be. So the challenge rooms suffer.

It's a really great game except for the challenge rooms. But I think it's ultimately a rental. Even on Hard, the game isn't that challenging (except for the issues I had with the final boss). And now that I've collected everything, I don't see myself replaying it.

It's a solid and respectable 8.5/B+ game.

Think you hit the nail on the head. I suppose my issue is (this will sound stupid) that the main game is so cohesive and well-put-together that it really makes you feel like the goddamn Batman. But when you separate out the parts and play them separately, the seams start to show, and you're left merely with a licensed Batman videogame--still a decent one, but nowhere near the experience the main game is.

Also, always an issue for me in modes like this is the realism of attaining the goal and the resultant level of motivation. Beat the Joker in the main game? Sure, no problem. Beat tens of thousands of nerds on the Internet for a high score? No freakin' way.

I used to hate the challenge rooms before I finished the game but now I can't get enough of them. There's nothing like getting a flawless freeflow in round 4 for 41 thousand points it's sweet. I do agree with some of the same issues some of you are saying they could be tighter with the controls but if you do it enough you will find your sweet spot.

That was my favorite trophy to get, too. :D

Technically, the credits do roll before you go back to find the last of the Riddler's riddles. This is one of the few games I actually made a point to go back and find all 240 of them, too. I never bothered to get all of the shards in InFamous. The riddles had some nice payoffs with the recordings of the patient interviews, and the Spirit of Arkham story.

I loved Batman, but now that I've finished as much as I'm going to finish, I will probably sell the game while the value is still high. Too many new games coming out that I want, and the challenge rooms just don't interest me that much.

It was fun, but I don't think I'll ever feel the need to replay it or play the challenge rooms.

Too many of the trophies/achievements were based on the challenge mode. More should have been focused on the main game. I also think there needed to be one higher difficulty level. Or an achievement for playing without detective mode. Or both. ;)

Neat idea, but some parts of the game required you to use detective mode to progress the story. i.e. scanning items for clues to follow a trail.

And add me to the list of those who finished it and sold it. That's mainly because I bought the horrible CE which was definitely not as cool in person. Guess I can't complain too much since I paid $32 and sold it for $85. :D

Nice score! I thought I did good with the SE buying at $30 and selling at $43.

Same here! I have like 66% of the trophies only. The challenges weren't that fun.
The single player experience was more than satisfying.

I'm stubborn and even though chellenges take more time for me than I would like, I will try to get the plat. The most frustrated I've been so far is the room with electric floor for whopping 30000 points, it took me whole weekend to get measly 30000 points. I suck, I know, but I'll get it.

^ Great review; I agree with the nerd on the right for most points, and the nerd on the left with regard to the challenge rooms. Will watch more reviews from you guys.

Can anyone tell me how to get to the cave after beating poison ivy? I need to get a few riddler trophies.

You can go the same way you did in the first place, through Arkham North, or go through the bottom level in Intensive Treatment.
