As many know the Lumagen HDP/HDQs cannot accept 1080P/60 but works nicely with 1080I/60 and 1080P/24.
Does anyone know which Bluray players can automatically output 1080P/24 for film content and 1080/60 for video content? (The only one ones I have heard of that do this are the source direct Pioneers)

I've been looking into this myself having recently bought a secondhand HDQ. I found that the more expensive Pioneers have this feature, but I think that model was around £1,500 over here . Consequently I've just set up my HDQ Memory 'A' for 1080/60i to give 1080/60p and Memory 'B' to give 1080/60i to 1080/24p (reverse telecine; causes no loss in PQ, use the 'Film' settting in the 'HD' deinterlacing setting).
This means I can stick with my humble (but good enough for my tastes) Sony BDP-S350 until a source direct player with BDLive comes along at a reasonable price.
My Pioneer 51FD works great with my HDQ set to source direct! I am not interested in BDLive so that is not an issue for me.

Thanks Ronomy, that's useful to know as the FD51 is a lot cheaper.....can't say I'm bothered by BDLive particularly, it was more just trying to futureproof really.

I have the Sony S350 like you! I purchased a 32 inch XBR6 for my living room and I got the S350 for free. BD is overkill for a 32 inch TV and any movies I view in my theater anyway. I guess if I needed to see something on BDlive I could use the S350 to view it. I would have to run a long ethernet cable to view it though.

The PS3 will do this.

The upcoming OPPO BDP-83 will do what you require. It has a clean "Source Direct" output as well with the following configuration:
NTSC DVD - 480i
PAL DVD - 576i
Most BD film content - 1080p/23.976 and 1080p/24 (however encoded)
BD video content - 1080i
SACD - 1080i (so high-resolution multichannel audio can be piped through HDMI without the restrictions when using 480i/p)
Thanks people. It is specifically "Source Direct" players I', interested in, have had enough of manuallyswitching between 1080I and 1080/24.
So far we have:
Pioneer 51FD
Oppo BDP-83
Sony PS3
Any others? Any with RS232?

Any with RS232?
From what I gather, RS-232 will be available for the OPPO BDP-83 at an additional cost when the player is for sale to the general public.
