I've been reading through numerous threads and haven't found a definitive answer (maybe just missed it)

I have a motorola dhs3416 from comcast and all i would like to do is to copy some of the recorded programs from the dvr to my computer. I dont care if they are in hd i just want to be able to view them and ultimately burn a dvd.

there is a fire wire connection, a usb connection, AV connections, hdmi connections all that i could use.

does anyone out there have a definitive answer whether this can be done??
Thanks

Firewire is an option, but it's probably easiest to hook up a DVD recorder to the composite outputs and do manual records of what you want to keep.

I think what you are looking for is the Hauppauge 1212 PVR. It can capture 720p/1080i from your cable box. As far as I know, it's the only device out there that can do what you describe.
