Hi, I'm calibrating my AVIELO Spectra DLP pj using a EyeOne Pro and HCFR.
Just a few questions:

- I see AVC709HD test gives measure patterns in 2 different versions: Fields (full screen) and WIndows (a window in a black background). What should I use? What's the difference in using one or the other?

- I project on a 96inches diagonal (213cm wide) 16:9 screen, how far from screen should I place the Eyeone Pro sensor?

- In pj menu I can set the lamp power intensity. How do I find the correct value? I heard at 100ire it should be around 16ftL. Do I have to take measurement in a full screen 100ire or a 100ire window in the center of a black screen.

- I've noticed that enabling BrilliantColor feature it gives much higher luminance values. At 100ire should I set 16ftL with BrilliantColor on or off? This feature gives me 3-4 ftL of difference in 100ire pattern. Do you suggest to enable or not this function? In case I should make calibration with BC on?

Thanks to everyone will give me any explanation about what I asked above.

You will find most of the answers to your questions re basic calibration here:

I'm not an expert on DLPs (in fact I'm not an expert on anything) but re your questions:
- You should use the window patterns on a front PJ (that's what HCFR is expecting). I think the field ones are to calibrate a Monitor/TV, but I could be wrong.
- You should be at the distance from the screen that allows you to read most ftL with a 100% window. This is usually betwen 4-18". The first guide tells you everything.
- Measurement should be from a window, but the fTl depends on your room (you could do with as little as 8-10 Ftl in a complete bat cave, but may need up to 20 in a less perfect room). 12-16 is the average value. In practice, go for the low lamp if you can get enough brightness out of it (less noise, especially on a DLP, and longer lamp life).
- Brilliant color probably gives you more luminosity at the expense of color accuracy. Switch it off to calibrate (and watch movies in a light controlled room) and switch it on if you need the extra brightness to watch sport in daylight.

Good luck!
