View Full Version : Anyone get Trivial Pursuit
dx31698 03-16-09, 03:10 PM We got this the other day and all the reports before the game came out said there would be a downloadable movie pack for the game when u got it. I cant seem to find anything under downloadable content. Has anybody found it?
MrXpress 03-16-09, 03:25 PM I would have been there day one for this game if it weren't for the exclusion of online play. I know EA was going for the whole face-to-face thing by not including it... but isn't that what the actual board game is for?
Cygnus311 03-18-09, 09:09 AM Is the game well done? I was thinking about getting this and/or Monopoly.
bdoyledimou 03-18-09, 10:48 AM I honestly believe that releasing any of these board games without online capability is sheer laziness on the developers part.
Guitar Hero 03-19-09, 01:26 PM No online play means no purchase for me. It's good for the mind to challenge yourself against people older and more wise than your 12-year-old children.
No online gameplay destroyed their profit margin.
Lord_Zath 03-19-09, 02:06 PM yeah not for me, too
I didn't even know it was out, but no-online means I don't care.
Buzz is the only trivia game out there that's even worth consideration.
TornadoTJ 03-20-09, 11:26 AM We got it last night, since I had a gift card to burn. For the record, we also have Buzz, and play it often.
I had heard the complaints regarding EA Monopoly, but the reviews for Pursuit were much better, and the wife wanted it, so we got it.
We played one game last night. The animations do not get in the way of the game, as I had heard was an issue with Monopoly. We also didn't have an issue with it being multiple choice, it seems they have done a good job creating questions and answers that don't give an advantage to it being multiple choice. The only downside to this is that you have a 25% chance of guessing the right answer if you don't know it.
About all I can say is that if you like the board game, you'll probably like the video game. We enjoyed it, and don't regret the purchase. I am sure we will play it a lot in the future. Comparing it to Buzz isn't really comparing apples to oranges, either. Buzz is a much different game IMO.
I was surprised to see last night that a Movies pack was released as DLC for free!
joeblow 03-20-09, 11:52 AM No online play? No thanks.
I'm a fan of the board game, but no online play kills it for me.
TornadoTJ 03-20-09, 02:09 PM Honestly, if you have the board game, I see no reason to get the PS3 version.

Only one I can really see is free DLC questions but yeah, I guess I'll be sticking to meatspace Trivial Pursuit.
TornadoTJ 03-23-09, 10:56 PM We played the quick game several times now. It is a blast!
ludivigo 09-09-09, 10:05 AM Is anyone still playing this? I was wondering about longevity - i.e. repeat questions. My wife saw this in the store last night and thought it might be fun.

It's got a massive database. When my wife and I play it, I've yet to come across anything twice.
My beef is the multiple choice style of answering. I know it speeds up play but I'd rather not have the answer visible at all and type it in.
I want Jeopardy.

I GameFly'd this for the relatively easy Platinum hit! It actually still takes a bit of time to do. The movie pack can be downloaded off the PSN store. Try add on content, Trivial Pursuit, and you should find it.
I was quite surprised at the breadth of movie questions. There are a lot of International movie questions, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, American. Kind of an interesting title, but I would by no means spend $59.99 on it. If you do like trivia games though, it seems pretty well implemnted.
Good luck!
ludivigo 09-09-09, 03:18 PM I wouldn't spend $59.99 either, but now it's only $29.99. :)
I think I'll get it. We've been wanting a good trivia game and Buzz just doesn't cut it. Too much novelty (e.g. pies in the face) not enough good questions. I wish they'd make Scene It! for PS3.

Jeopardy is HORRIBLE. Do not waste even $5 on it.

We still play it.

They charged $59.99 for TP at one point in time, and it doesn't even have online multiplayer?
$30 is too much. $15 might be about right.
Zookster 09-09-09, 03:56 PM $20 seems to be the price at most places now, including BB, where you can get it for $10 if you pick up something else this week.
Gelinas 09-09-09, 04:04 PM I rented this game a while back. It's perfect for ps3 owners like myself who aren't really gamers. It's not quite as fun as BUZZ! but it has surprisingly satisfying bass in the soundtrack music (which Buzz lacks). I think TP would be more fun if I had more than one controller too. If I ever get around to buying it I may try to use my harmony one with the ps3 adapter as a second controller.
FrankieH 09-09-09, 06:46 PM I bought TP for my wife's birthday for $20 on Amazon. We haven't played it that much, but we did have some friends over and played it with them. The four of us had a good time. If you can get it for $20, I'd say buy it. We will definitely play it more.
kinggabbo 09-10-09, 09:16 AM Picked this up yesterday because of this thread. Used at gamestop for like $17. Good game for that price. Challenging questions for sure.
