Good Evening,
So I've finally said to hell with it and am going to have my first ever ISF Calibration done in approx 15 hours from now on my 5020:eek:. The calibration will be done by a fellow board member Gary Mollura of Custom Audio/Vid here in Syracuse, NY who is listed as 9G calibrator experienced. I came across his name on the "List" provided by Turbe in the calibration section of the forum. Once again I'd like to thank all of you that provide such usefull information to us all !!! ;)
I was wondering if there is anything specific I should be having done, or anything of utmost importance I should be making sure get's done. I'm sure Gary knows his stuff and will provide me with a fantastic calibration, but we're all human and have things happening in our personal lives that distract us in our professional lives from time to time, so I'm just trying to get a quick education on things I need to make sure we cover tomorrow in case there is something we might overlook :o.
Also, what should I expect when we're done?? I currently watch Blu-Ray's (BDP51FD player) in movie mode using D-Nice setting's. After a calibration is that still the recommend mode for "Optimal" display performance ??? After the calibration is there a reference Blu-Ray movie that I should watch to see what kind of improvements were made??:confused:
I mean I think the PQ is amazing already on the 5020, but I can't live with myself knowing that it could possibly get better and not do anything about it, so I couldn't help but get the calibration done to ease the sense of the uknown .:p:p:p..Anyway!! all help and advice would be appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance
Steve

Hi,
You bring up a very good point about preparation before calibration.

At the moment I don't have a Blu Ray player. My primary input source to my plasma is TivoHD and a Pioneer Elite (cira 2002) DVD player.

Are these sufficient for when the guy does the calibration? Do they expect someone to have a Blu Ray or simliar device?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Of your face after you just realized you wasted money on that TV and calibration time when the new gen of TV's coming out right now will be much cheaper with a better picture with just a user level calibration! LOL! :p

Funny level!

Is that nonsense really necessary. Keep your dreams to yourself, and lets stick to the facts and not ruin this thread.

Take some pics of your favorite scene on your favorite movie, and then take the same pic afterwards. Post them on here so we can check them out :)

If I keep my 5020, I might have it calibrated as well. Anything to get rid of that annoying red push.

Should I not schedule a calibration until I get a bluray player?
thanks,
Steve

You could also take a peek at the official pioneer pics thread. Snap some pics of the same screenshots shown in there for comparisons sake. That would be cool, but you really need to get before and after of yours in particular.
