Assuming I keep things in the digital domain (using HDMI or digital coaxial), do all processors decode DD soundtracks the same way/with the same quality? Basically, if I was going to listen to Dolby Digital 5.1 100% of the time, what qualities should I look for in a processor? I am trying to decide between an Integra DHC 9.9 and the Denon AVP. Thanks

Strange question since there is no way to listen to music and "keep things in the digital domain". Yes, the DD processing is the same but there are so many other things going on in the audio chain (including inside a receiver) that can make a difference in the sound signature.

What I am trying to understand is for lots of processors, I see the comment that the DD sounds great but for analog the processor struggles. Why is that so often the case?

What I am trying to understand is for lots of processors, I see the comment that the DD sounds great but for analog the processor struggles. Why is that so often the case?Because the analog signals go through a very different circuit path with different components and capabilities.
