I have a KEF 2005.2 system with an Onkyo TX-SR604 receiver and I got tired of looking at the TREMENDOUS subwoofer so I went and purchased a Def Tech Supercube III after hearing its phenomenal performance. I hooked it up directly in place of the KEF and it does not sound anything like it did in the store. Is there something that I need to do? The output is very low even if I turn up the gain to max. Someone help! Thanks.

Sosh -

Odd. Does increasing the gain on the subwoofer increase the output at all? Which input on the sub did you connect to, what's it labeled?

Is the output low, no matter where you stand?

Yeah, the output is really low in comparison to the KEF sub.. I connected my sub cable to the LFE plug under low level input

Sounds like the right input. Try flipping the polarity on the sub. If that doesn't help then maybe you got a defective unit. I would bring it to the store and have them connect it to their system to see if it does the same thing.

ok i made some adjustments on the knobs, and it is outputting louder.. not as loud as the kef sub though

should i run the mic setup again with this sub or have to change some type of setting on the receiver?

The Def Tech sub may have lower input gain, so it would be wise to run auto set-up again. This should bring the sub level up to where it should be, and if it doesn't then there may be a problem with the sub. The only other thing that can help is to buy a Y splitter and run it to the L & R inputs of the sub. This will give the output a 6dB boost.

Ok, i will try to run the mic setup again and see how it works after, i will post back tomorrow with my findings, thanks again
