What's the reasoning behind having one game nationally to lead off on both Sat/Sun? It's always driven me crazy, frequently it's a high seed (i.e. Duke) and the game is not close. Like yesterday when Villanova was blowing out UCLA. Would have been nice to be able to switch to another game.

Agreed I ended up switching to watching something on my DVR till the next game started
sdk 009 03-22-09, 11:19 AM This is the first year that I can rememeber that CBS's Sunday 2nd round lead off with a national telecast. It was always 2-3-2 up until today. I don't get it either.
Of course, they did me a favour Saturday, since I was able to get my chores done since the UCLA game was a blowout.

I agree with your post overall, but today's match-up (ASU v. 'cuse) looks like a good one!

A 3 vs 6 matchup is a much better bet than a 1 vs 8/9.
icemannyr 03-22-09, 01:21 PM Anyone else think that sound effect that comes on with the bottom scores line is a bit to loud?

CBS used the same schedule of a national game then 4 games then 3 games last year for the second round Sunday.
It is a viewership tactic to start with one national game as to get the whole country including the west coast watching.
2:20 window games started, Wisc/Xavier from Boise looks and sounds great on WWJ-DT CBS O&O (no subchannels) via Comcast Detroit.

Actually, the only times CBS did not use the 1-4-3 Sunday format since 1994 are 1995, 1996 and 2003. In 2003, they used the 1-2-3-1 quadrupleheader method that they use on Saturdays. In 1995 & 1996, CBS used a 2-4-2 tripleheader. That's as far back as my records go...sorry!
coyoteaz 03-22-09, 04:21 PM OK State-Pitt isn't quite up to the same quality as previous broadcasts, but I'm thinking it's related to the wood grain on the court in Dayton. KTVT Dallas via FiOS.
BarryB1124 03-22-09, 05:41 PM Dayton broadcasts subpar also on my new 111-FD. NY Cablevision CBS.

seatkiller222 03-22-09, 06:56 PM anybody hear from Guidedog? I value his assesment of the PQ from these tournament sites.
icemannyr 03-22-09, 07:14 PM WCBS-DT NYC FiOS.
WCBS has no sub channels but there is a lot of macroblocking on the closeup shots of the players moving.
We have the flex feed and CBS is switching games way to fast.
Two games are less then 3min left but CBS switched to Senia @ Lou with 7min left, grrrrrrrrr!
WTF! Two games with less then 1min left and CBS won't show them????????????????????
On now they switch to the Mizzou game.
