I see there are a few boxsets that contain a DVD but wondering if it's DVD-A or just a DVD-V disc.

View Full Version : any hi-rez audio on the Pearl Jam Ten reissue? mcallister 03-22-09, 12:29 PM I see there are a few boxsets that contain a DVD but wondering if it's DVD-A or just a DVD-V disc. Cherylandmike 03-23-09, 12:58 PM I'm sorry to report that there is NO DVD-Audio or SACD on the Pearl Jam Super Deluxe Ten Re-Issue. You would have expected a Hybrid SA-CD on a from a Sony artist but it isn't so. If a Hybrid SA-CD would have added $25 to the price of the box I still would have bucked up. If I ever seetheir their manager Kelly Curtis I'll be sure to ask him why no SA-CD and report back here. Cheers, mcallister 03-24-09, 05:14 PM thanks for the info. Too bad they would go to all the work of re-mixing the album and not include some type of lossless format. Hell give us the album on a blu-ray. Cherylandmike 03-25-09, 09:08 AM I didn't even think of Blu-Ray. In the accent of Tommy Flannigan, "That's the ticket." Cherylandmike 03-26-09, 10:14 AM My wife opened her birthday copy last night to see if it was autographed. It wasn't. I'm looking forward to sitting down with Cheryl and LISTENING to the vinyl! I'll let her sit in the sweet spot. The Super Deluxe packaging is amazing. Very high quality cardboard slip cases/ jackets on all media. Double sleeved CDs and DVDs in a thicker hard cardboard slipcase. I forgot about the 180g vinyl until I went looking for the "Drop in the Park" download coupon. Wow those records are thick compared to some of the dreck pressings I bought in the early 80s. The overall slip case is very nice and looks like it will hold up to removing and replacing the discs over time. According to the various interviews I've read bassist Jeff Ament was responsible for the packaging concept. The quality seems to be in response to his difficulties in dealing with Sony/Epic when Ten was initially released. It's the rare case that the collector’s edition packaging exceeds expectations. My only complaint is the lack of SACD. Even if the band was against surround they could have gone for a two channel Hybrid SA-CD like the Rolling Stones ABKCO years. As some pointed out on another forum, maybe lossless PCM Blu-ray..... Cheers, mcallister 03-27-09, 08:40 PM sounds like a cool set. I should pick it up before it goes up in price at Best Buy. Unfortunately I just bought a pair of Salk HT3's and I'm not sure I can afford anything else for awhile:( |
