View Full Version : AVSHD help and questions Lascivious1 03-23-09, 07:39 PM This first post was ........ well lets say a mstake read the following if you can help. Lascivious1 03-23-09, 10:58 PM OK i just read what i posted and i see now i wont get any replies. so let me asked it in a more defined way :D If anyone has used this program could you help me with the 2nd section that deals with "MISC. PATTERNS AND INSTRUCTIONS" it deals with grey scale ramp and steps plus the color steps. 1: is this section made for just viewing for inconsitency in grey scale levels or do i suppose to change any settings to optimize the grey? 2: my next question is about a "Blue Filter" supposably you use it to view the colors and compare. But Do i really needs this or is it mandatory? I know it would be better if i did. but maybe i could wait till the next time i do it and thats when i hit 100 hours of use? Rolls-Royce 03-24-09, 02:07 PM If your set has controls for grayscale adjustment (many do), then yes, you should use them to adjust the grayscale. Lots of newer sets have these in the User menus so you don't have to go into the service menu, where it's far easier to screw things up. If you don't have access to grayscale controls, or you have a non-Elite Kuro, then the patterns can only be used for verification. Doing grayscale adjustments properly requires a meter, though. If your set has a "blue only" mode, that works better than any filter. But filters will get you close. And yes, you need one or the other. Lascivious1 03-24-09, 05:49 PM Well im getting the 850 samsung tomorrow. so im not sure if it has blue mode. do you know if it does? if not its ok i ordered the blue filter THX shades so i can look cool while i noobish calibrate :D when i mess witht he grey scale ill be sure to just mess around and see what stuff does before i go and make any changes. and if all hell breaks loose ill just hit the Default button ;) sotti 03-24-09, 05:53 PM Well im getting the 850 samsung tomorrow. so im not sure if it has blue mode. do you know if it does? if not its ok i ordered the blue filter THX shades so i can look cool while i noobish calibrate :D when i mess witht he grey scale ill be sure to just mess around and see what stuff does before i go and make any changes. and if all hell breaks loose ill just hit the Default button ;) It's just not a good idea to mess with grey scale, blue filters can't adjust it, you need a probe. grey scale will be off a little, but if you mess with it you have a much greater chance of being off alot when you're done then you do of being closer. Lascivious1 03-24-09, 06:05 PM K, i wont mess with the grey scale ill just look :D Rolls-Royce 03-24-09, 09:54 PM I do believe the Samsungs have a "Blue-only" mode, at least the 650s do. That's the way you want to go, and then you won't really need the filters. |
