I hope this is the right forum for this...please move if it isn't!
I've noticed I'm having some sound issues trying to run Dolby Pro Logic with my current setup.
TV is a Vizio VW32LHDTV20.
HT system is a Sony HT-DDW750, using a Sony STR-K750P as receiver.
TV is watched OTA, coax comes into the ATSC tuner on the TV, and the digital audio is passed from the TV via Optical cable to the Receiver.
DVD movies are played from the DVD player, which goes via HDMI to the TV, and audio is also passed through to the Optical cable.
The receiver has 2 Settings for digital output, Dolby Digital and PCM. I set the receiver to AFD Auto so that it will automatically pick up the audio settings being broadcast.
When I set the TV output to Dolby Digital, the receiver picks it up and it sounds great. Just one problem: The sound cuts out for a few seconds every 5 minutes or so. When I set the TV output to PCM, the sound never cut outs, but AFD Auto defaults to 2.1, and the sound isn't as good if I manually set the receiver from AFD Auto to the appropriate surround sound setting.
Does the issue lie within the receiver, tv, or both? I've not read of any issues where this happens...
