View Full Version : So who's doing the EDGE powerbuy?
jozeph78 03-25-09, 09:08 PM I was just about to pull the trigger on a refurb for $520 and I see this new for $521. I'm a little nervous about no return because I have 1% doubt there will be some sort of issue with the thing, but figured I could turn it around pretty quick at that price if I found it incompatible.
I'm resting on it tonight but will probably pull the trigger tomorrow. Post up if you or someone you know is doing a power buy.
Neil Schneider 03-25-09, 11:27 PM Where are the refurbs located. You could pm me if you want. I am deciding on this deal myself.
I'd like a few more replies to my other thread, but I'm leaning towards doing it as well.
jozeph78 03-26-09, 12:49 PM I'm on board. A little nervous about all the refurbs with only 3 month support, this is the cheapest price by $100 dollars online. I think the shipping price and time to ship royally sucks, but how could one complain.
jozeph78 03-26-09, 05:44 PM Just pulled the trigger. Nobody else on is on this? What do you already have one?
Nasty N8 03-27-09, 11:39 AM I already have one and at this price am considering another.
Nate
PhoenixF15E 03-28-09, 11:56 AM I'm in--too good of a deal to pass up.
The shorter warranty on the refurbs made me a little uneasy.
Neil Schneider 03-28-09, 05:47 PM I ordered one yesterday. 3 to 4 weeks to wait.
3 to 4? Guess I should have asked, but I thought it was 2.
Jason Turk 03-30-09, 10:19 AM It's not a 3 to 4 week wait...we ordered them Friday late day so we should have them end of this week and we will turn them around immediately.
Stevetd 03-30-09, 10:24 AM Any plans for doing this again. I didn't see it until it was too late.
Jason Turk 03-30-09, 10:28 AM Not immediately...but we never can tell when these deals will come up.
jozeph78 03-30-09, 11:04 AM I ordered mine on Thursday but I haven't received an e-mail confirmation or CC charge yet. I'm a little nervous without any sort of confirmation of purchase, but all should be well. Hope they get here soon!
Jason Turk 03-30-09, 04:40 PM Charges won't be done until they arrive later this week (or early next...depends on shipping company). If you are unsure contact your salesman and he can confirm your order.
Neil Schneider 04-02-09, 02:15 PM It's not a 3 to 4 week wait...we ordered them Friday late day so we should have them end of this week and we will turn them around immediately.
Sorry, I was told by my sales guy 3 to 4 weeks. I am very happy it will be less. Thanks Jason. I was also told they were to be drop shipped.
Jason Turk 04-03-09, 11:13 AM Sorry for the confusion!
Guess there in, my cc has a temp charge. :D
Are there some post missing from this thread?
bimmerfreak0 04-06-09, 01:44 PM how would my harmony control the edge?? Can it even.....i worried about compatibility with my HK 347...even then, is the edge worth it to me with my Panasonic 42" TH42PX60u (720p)....???????? OH, and my tv can accept a 1080p signal, it just downrezzes it. What would/ should be the output signal from the edge, 720p, 1080i or 1080p. I have blu-ray, hd dvd, xbox 360 and hd cable
The DVDO EDGE is in the list of Harmony Devices and there are 30 or so commands available. But... I'm not sure you'll need to add it to your activies since I think it powers up when an input device is powered up?? I just added it to my device list so I'll be able to add wanted commands to my 'Watch DVD' activity. Can't wait to get it and play around with everything.
Jason Turk 04-06-09, 04:21 PM They are in and shipping today. Stay tuned for tracking!
jozeph78 04-09-09, 01:57 PM Got mine yesterday.. Hurrah. I'm overwhelmed by the functionality on this thing. Beautifully smart defaults and more features than I can even understand. It's awesome!
Jason Turk 04-09-09, 08:05 PM They are loaded for sure!
schan1123 04-15-09, 04:55 PM Anyone doing a powerbuy on the DVDO Edge? I'm interested in getting one.
CCONKLIN1 04-15-09, 05:03 PM ooooohhhhh, you are a day late and a dollar short as the avs powerbuy ended over a week ago...
sorry,
C
Just wanted to thank DVDO and A/V Science for bringing us this powerbuy. Oh, guess I shouldn't forget Jason Turk for keeping us informed...
I may want one.
How do I go about it?

schan1123 04-21-09, 11:54 AM How many people are needed for a powerbuy on the edge? I can be patient and wait for a group to build up.
I'm in if it can be shipped to Canada.
I always considered an edge, but i keep coming to the conclusion i dont need it.
I already have a switching, hdmi setup that works fine for me. 5 Port hdmi switch, and hdmi splitter.
I have a toshiba A35 for sd/dvd which has the same upscaling chip as the edge.
My projector has a reon chip for deinterlacing.
I have a flea for noise reduction.
Bluerays are passed at 1080p/24 right off the disk.
I guess I would like it for upscaling standard def tv, but sadly dish network, or bell express vu (same company makes receivers) only allows one resolution output. So it has to stay at 1080i.
So unfortunately as much as I would like one, I just dont think it would benefit me.
Jason Turk 05-04-09, 12:33 PM How many people are needed for a powerbuy on the edge? I can be patient and wait for a group to build up.
No specific number...it is just done occassionally. However if there is enough interest, I can probably presuade them to do it again. If anyone is interested, please EMAIL me at jason@avscience.com. (AGAIN...EMAIL!).
I will keep a list and see what I can do.
Blacklac 05-04-09, 12:51 PM I have a toshiba A35 for sd/dvd which has the same upscaling chip as the edge.
Same scaling chip, but deinterlacing is a whole different story. Overall, the A35 doesn't compare to the Edge, IMO.
Just wanted to point that out. You sound pretty well covered with your equipment though. I think you're actually one step ahead of the game just having a Flea. I love that thing.

GET.... NEW.... CABLE BOX.... NOW! :p
Sorry.
Well i send 1080i out since the reon in my projector does a great job of deinterlacing for sd dvd. As you know you also cannot watch at 1080p when you use the flea, once again making the need for an edge non existant.
The satellite receiver is another story, again it sucks it does not have native resolution support, but this is bell express vu, dishnetwork in the u.s. is the same, there is no native support.
Jason Turk 05-06-09, 04:39 PM Gotta love satellite.
