be harder to sell.

I haven't looked at buying a sub in a number of years, and haven't been in the subwoofer forum in quite some time, but I expected to see some of these high priced subs at a pretty large discount, considering the recession and all, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I guess that depends on what you mean by high-priced.

Yes the internet direct subs are expensive i.e. conquest, submersive, ultra, ED offerings, and uls-15.

BUT they have a very high cost to performance ratio. So in some respects it makes sense that more would be selling in this economy due to their relative value compared to Brick and Mortar offerings. For example svs has sold so many of their entry level subs that they are backordered on drivers.

Also, some companies are offering reccesion buster discounts such as the free shipping on the ultra (which may not seem like much but I'm sure it is expensive to ship a 160 lb HUGE box to a private residence)

I think that with all the information on the internet, you can now buy a quality sub for low price. Back then it was mail order or instore purchase. Most of the time they tend to push the products they stock. Even though it not good. I mean if you knew X-sub performed better than Y-sub at half the price, which one would you buy?

When I brought my sub, PA-120, it fit my needs and at a decent price. Of course with the help from avsforums and the internet. I would not be able to make this kind of purchase if it wasn't the internet. If I knew what I know now, I'll go with the "new" MFW-15.

Maybe some of us just have a lot of problems, no money, and lots of credit. Economy be damned. Why lower prices for these sick individuals?:D

In spite of the recession, there are still quite a few upper-middle class (>$250,000), people in the country who can still afford "big ticket" items like "high priced" subs.

As far as recession related discounts, there have been some, and there still are as noted previously.

There are also good deals to be had on B & M brands. For example, the Def Tech Trinity can be had for as much as 40% off, if you know where to shop.

I also wonder who knows what other deals are to be had at B & M stores. I imagine it has a good bit to do with how much inventory sellers have on hand.

About a year ago, there was a store that sold its J L Audio Gotham (s) for $6,000, which is about 50% off. I saw the advertisement on the net for the Gotham at $6,000, so it is not an urban legend.

NHT closed their doors and some of us took advantage of some incredible deals!

Although there sub had a very high price tag for some reason.

Besides that these are the times when the rich get richer and the middle class continues to shrink
