I'm looking to purchase a 46" Panny G10 in the near future. My present receiver, an older Yamaha HTR -5540, does not have HDMI connections. Will I be able to use the component audio in conjunction with using HDMI cables from the digital box and DVD player or will there be synch issues? Time for a new receiver? Thanks!!!!!!

You mean analog audio since there is no such thing as component audio. You will be able to use analog audio but there is a chance lip sync could be a problem. There is not a lot you can do since your receiver will have no idea about the video being feed to the TV. Your receiver may take a few milliseconds to process the audio.

Looks like it's time for another upgrade. Are there any converters available?

Converter to convert you "old" receiver into a new one:confused: Yes it's called a fat wallet.:D
Your Yammy has an optical and digital coax audio inputs. You should use those for the better audio results (I.E. Dolby Digital/DTS).
IMO... there's no need to buy a new receiver (yet) until you hook the "stuff" up and see what happens. ;)

Lots of people use analog audio and digital video with no synch problems. I do so myself. You have to try it and see.
