View Full Version : Processor for HDMI AC3/DTS extraction whenever possible

Greetings,

I am looking for a solution to have AC3/DTS extracted from an HDMI signal and output it as S/PDIF whenever possible and then letting that full input HDMI signal pass through to an HDMI output.

That means:

TrueHD --> AC3 interleaved track extracted
AC3 --> AC3 passthrough
DTS-HD MA --> DTS core extracted
DTS --> DTS passthrough

I'm aware of HDMI splitters such as those offered by Octava and Gefen but unfortunately, they will not extract AC3/DTS from TrueHD and DTS-HD MA.

Of course, I know any respectable AVR offers that functionality but I'm looking at a cheaper, custom solution that only does that (extracting/outputting AC3/DTS on S/PDIF).

I'm not limiting myself to ready-to-use solutions since there seems to be none right now (besides AVR's) so I'm looking for media processors that I could use on my PCB that does that work (accepts HDMI signal, outputs AC3/DTS). Sigma Designs probably has some, I'm waiting for a callback.

Any ideas, suggestions? I'm looking for the cheapest yet reliable solution that extracts AC3/DTS from HDMI TrueHD/DTS-HD MA. :)

Thanks in advance!

you can use this piece

http://www.spatz-tech.com/spatz/HDMIREPDEC.htm

the higher res audio formats cannot be output via SPDIF this interface does not have enough bandwith, so 8 -channel analog is possible.
