I've looked around and done some searching on the forum, and most of the "suggest a subwoofer" threads here are mainly for home theater. I'm looking for one almost entirely for music use.

I'm looking more for precision with SPL a nice bonus. My room is 18'x20'x10'(h). I've listened to most everything I can around here (Martin Logan, Paradigm, Mirage, Monitor Audio, Klipsch to name a few) and the front runners seem to be either the Paradigm DSP-3200 or the Ultracube 10?

Is there any other brands I should be looking at, and if so, could you folks please provide comparisons to the above subwoofers in order for me to get a frame of reference?

Thanks

I think the Rythmik F12 is a fantastic subwoofer for music.

Is there a noticeable difference in sound between the F12 and the F12G? Their comparison page comes up as not found.

For $50 why not go with the better driver? Othewise, you will always wonder what the better driver sounds like.

I have a room with very similar dimensions, except a half cathedral ceiling. Do you think the Rhythmik is the way to go?

My current setup consists of Paradigm Studio 40 v3 fronts, CC-570 v3 center, and straggler Axioms for the rears. My sub is an Infinity CSW-10 which puts out a decent amount of bass when in smaller rooms, but seems lacking when it comes to the larger family room. It's a 10" sealed sub with a 650W RMS sub.

My question really boils down to this:
Will a subwoofer with less power really be able to put out more SPLs? Or is the Infinity just not designed as efficiently?

I see the Rythmik F12 is only 370W RMS.

I have also been looking into a used Sunfire (but poor reliability), and a used Paradigm Seismic 12 (a little more than I'd like to spend at the moment)

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wattage means nothing. The F12 will be fine and will be a far better music sub than the Sunfire or the Paradigm.

So the f12 is a musical sub. Now, what if the OP where to watch a movie now and then? :D How is the f12 for Home Theatre. Will it fill a moderately sized room. (19x12) I see the specs, but are the numbers accurate? (14hz) Just curious.

Yes, the numbers are correct I have a Rythmik DS12 sub in a custom box that I purchased when only the kits were offered. It's in a 16x12 room and the FR using REW is flat to just below 14hz. Even switched to 28hz it's flat to just below 20.

For music I'm more that thrilled with it, it provides all and more of the spl levels I would ever want and sounds incredible. For HT which can have effects lower in the frequency range than music I think most would want more, it can be overtaxed in the lower frequency range at above normal volume levels. I'd recommend 2 F12s in that case or the 15".
