rebkell 03-28-09, 03:51 PM Directv has opened up channel 390(CBSEast) today, and are showing the games(380 for SD)
ChrisHman 03-28-09, 04:05 PM WGCL Atlanta through Comcast with one subchannel setup for march madness multicast. Today im noticing some macroblocking and noise in the pregame during graphic transitions. We have some storms here though so dont know if its local or not. Just waiting for WGCL to turn off the subchannel since 2 games at a time are over. Should be silky smooth after that!
WWJ-DT Detroit CBS O&O (no subchannels) via Comcast. Looks and sounds great, always a pleasure to listen to Mr. Enberg's call.
sd72667 03-28-09, 05:32 PM WEVV Evansville, IN will switch from HD to SD to run a tornado watch every few minutes, which is fine. But now they forgot to switch back to HD. I have called them several times, but the phone is busy, LOL. Thank god for DirecTV channel 390

Same issue here, WGCL Atlanta thru Charter. I noticed last night when I was home the issues with macroblocking primarily during graphic transitions and any really fast motion. I had been watching the HD games on DirecTV at a friend's up until last night, and hadn't noticed how much the subchannel was affecting WGCL. I was hoping they'd have the subchannel off by this afternoon, but apparently not. I believe the subchannel is not showing anything except a static screen for NCAA Multicast 46.2 at the moment.
Maestro J 03-28-09, 09:31 PM Wow, Nova vs. Pitt - game of the tournament so far. Great stuff...
stangbat 03-29-09, 02:27 PM CBS looks terrible here in KC on SureWest. Blocking, dropped video, dropped audio. I called and spoke with customer service and she said it is a problem with their feed from CBS and has been an issue for quite a while. I figured this was the case based on what I've been seeing. On Friday the local storm warnings would stay on screen while the signal would drop and display "loss of input signal". Anyone know what is going on? Last week I thought the issues were mainly from the broadcast coming from Minneapolis, but maybe not. But here it is a week later from different locations and things are still terrible. I haven't watched CBS any time other than for the tourney games, but it has been terrible more often than not. Are their regular HD primetime broadcasts this bad?
icemannyr 03-29-09, 03:00 PM WCBS-DT NYC FiOS TV
WCBS-DT has no sub channels and I get heavy macroblocking during the animated logos, graphic transitions and the closeup camera shots of the players running.
BarryB1124 03-29-09, 05:09 PM WCBS-TV Cablevision and OTA, picture is jittery with video noise for both games today. Yesterday's on the other hand were terrific.
Knicks_Fan 03-30-09, 01:04 PM Can someone explain why the highlights of games are not shown in HD back at the studio?
mr. wally 03-30-09, 05:19 PM cbs hd was superlative, as good as the nova/pitt game
Jeremy W 03-30-09, 05:21 PM Can someone explain why the highlights of games are not shown in HD back at the studio?
They don't have the capability to do it. They're using the same equipment they use for their NFL broadcasts, and those are the same way. It's kind of funny how Fox shows highlights from CBS in HD (well, 16:9 SD), but CBS can't even show their own highlights in HD.

Lame (not your answer of course, Jeremy)!
