I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. My HD cable box is located 30 feet from my PVR 1212 and near my entertainment center. The blaster cable is about 12'. I have located some extension cables that might get the blaster cable to the front of the cable box, however close inspection of the PVR blaster cable mini jack reveals 4 segments, and I have not seen any extensions with more than 3 segments. Hauppage support says it's only a two wire system, but they have no specs for it.

Do I add a 25' extension despite the mini jack segment discrepency, or am I better off cutting it in half and adding the needed cable length in between the provided jack and the sensor?

Also, is there a known compatible IR extension cable for the PVR 1212, or even a fully functional replacement?

I have a powered component distribution box. The HD Cable box feeds the component/amp which feeds my 42" LCD at the entertainment center, computer station monitor 22" LCD/PVR (manaually switched) which is about about 30' of wall from the entertainment center. The Component distribution amp also feeds a 17" LCD TV next to my bed. All component vid lines are active simultaneously through the amplified distribution center when the Cable box is on. I use a wireless infrared repeater to change the box from my bedroom when watching HD in bed without any problems. Computer station is line of site to the entertainment center. I do manual switching at the computer station between PVR DVD CATV (Monitor connects through a Kworld HD Tuner box).

Any voice-of-expereince solution would really be appreciated to get the PVR blaster to the front of the HD Cable box! I really can't move the PVR any closer to the cable box with my current cable/rooms configuration. They are complicated!

Manually the PVR works great and video quality on all LCDs is excellent! But it's time to schedule some TV recording while away! :( How can I blast the cable box from the PVR from across the room?

You could get a an IR remote unit at Radio Shack.

But, do I need to worry about the mini jack segmentation which is 4 segments provided on the PVR 1212 blaster cable when adding remote IR?

Could I use just a single unit of two (remote repeater) since I am line of sight to the cable box from the computer station? The 4 segmented mini jack on the original blaster cable has me wondering about losing functionality if I directly insert a 2/3 segmented 1/8 mini jack directly into the PVR 1212. Any one do this successfully? If so- what brand remote IR repeater actually works? Anyone have a configuration working that they can can explain?

Or . . . do I use the original cable and splice into the IR repeater using only one of them aimed at the cable box?

An Ir repeeater consists of two unite.
One an IR receiver which you just hang your blaster in front of.
And a IR emmitter which receiives the signal from the receiver unit over power lines or RF and ouputs it to your STB.

I do not know why a blaster would need more then 2 wires/segments. You might try a two or 3 segment extension cable as that would be the best solution if it worked.

If you google on

IR blaster extension

you will get a number of hits see:
