Doing a remodel project in the HT/Media room and was thinking of upgrading subs. The subs will be used fot HT only (Salk HT3 for music) and I'm not quite sure if I will go with 2 SVS PB12's or move up to the 13U (room is 2500 ft^3). Question is if a single 20A line that I currently have would be enough or if I should go through the added pain in running another 20A line??
Please advise.
Thanks,

A 20A circuit is plenty for 2 subs, depending on what else you have running on the same line.

For an Ultra I've read somewhere that about 11 amps is needed (perhaps in the owners manual?), so a single Ultra, you'll be fine if nothing else is on it. Dual PB12s will be fine on the 20A line too I believe. Dual Ultras should be on separate lines or perhaps on the dedicated 20A by themselves. I've got my Ultra on a 15A line with a 60W lamp and a string of LED lights and the lights will dim during deep loud passages. I've got a second Ultra on its way, so I'm about to pull another line from the garage.

All lines are dedicated:
2- 20A at gear rack
1- 20A for projector
1- 20A for subs
1- 20A for mono amps
Thanks for the info, but I picked up the material to run a couple new dedicated lines. I figure the $50 material cost isn't bad, but we'll see how the install goes.

A single dedicated 20A line is enough for even power hungry duet of JL Audio f113's. Only if you would be torture testing with tests tones near the limits of loudness the subs deliver would it be not enough.
I run a pair of f112's on one 20AMP line and a pair of 113's on another 20AMP line. A ok, and subs like from Epik,SVS or ElementalDesigns have amps that would be hard pressed in pairs to put demands over 20AMPS even during heavy HT deaf O matic blasting.

Ya, the 20A for subs will be plenty. Try it out with both on and run loud, and perhaps put a light on the same plug and see if it dims dramatically or much at all when something blows up (in the movie). If you can get it to really dim, then you know you're at or near the limit of that outlet or even the house's main line in. Just putting an alternate plug to tap into doesn't mean you'll alleviate the problem if the house supply is getting hit too much unfortunately.
