I just wall mounted my 65" Panasonic. I used the highly recommended Peerless model with a 200lb capacity and was able to attach to three studs. I followed the instructions to a tee making sure I located the exact center of the studs, drilled the correct dia and depth and inserted the 6 included lag screws. I torqued with torq wrench to their advertised specs.

Still, that Panny is VERY heavy at ~180lbs and every time I walk by it I envison it falling and crashing. Was considering drilling aditional holes in the the unit and adding a middle fastener in each stud for a total then of 9 lag screws but thought otherwise later.

Has anyone ever had one of these come loose from the wall?

The 200lb rating on your mount is very conservative. Provided you used the approved hardware you'll be fine. The only instance of a catastrophe I've ever heard of was the use of too short of bolts (little thread engagement) on a TV with inset threadings.

I would be willing to bet that you couldn't pull the mount/TV off the wall no matter how hard you tried.

you are probably right. I'll confess I was so concerned I was considering putting some very short aircraft cables as safety lines.

I didnt seem to have the issue with the light plasma's and LCD's I have hung;
just this one that I could barely lift. Am getting better with it now, doesn't seem to bother me as much. :D

Attached to 3 studs and doing it right.....that tv isn't going anywhere until a massive earthquake takes the wall down or you dismount yourself.;)

just to strengthen the "support", I'd bet you could do pull-ups on the damn thing. If you hit the studs, the house will implode before it succumbs to 180lbs.

enjoy and worry about something else (like the first 100 movies!), partner.

The 200lb load is a static load and the mount is certainly designed to take a much higher dynamic load. So I would not worry about it. I have my 100lb on a mount that extends 25" from the wall and fully extended half the day, it doesn't even budge and hasn't for 2+ years.

As long as you don't live in an earthquake-prone area you should be all right.

Congrats, which Peerless for a 50incher, and where to buy?
