My school have this subwoofer and its brilliant but will it go with my speakers? I'm seriously thinking about getting this one as I know how good it is from experience. Please let me know asap whether it is compatible.

speakers it needs to go with: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/B2031A.aspx

my desired subwoofer: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/231&cl=gb,en

the only thing that bothers me is that the subwoofer for logitech is only 120rms, is it possible to BOOST this up with an amplifier????

thanks for your time.

Your Logitech link comes up empty. This is a powered sub, so it already has an amp. Putting an amp in front of it won't help. To get it to go with your speakers, you just have to calibrate. This will allow you to set volume levels to match. With the amps in the monitors, they can probably go louder than the sub, so the sub will be the restricting component.

What model is the sub?

It's really for small rooms or as a computer sub. You need to get yourself out and hear some real subwoofers. It will change your mind quite easily. If you are on a very limited budget, look for some of the many <$200 sub threads then see what you can demo locally.

Do you have a budget? That Logitech isn't exactly a monster subwoofer. I don't know how large your room is but I have a feeling the Logitech would struggle to fill a medium-large space.

How much can you get the Logitech for? The whole system goes for ~$90 online, so for $50 or so it'll add some bottom end to the monitors, although it wouldn't be enough for any party I'd go to. :) I picked that system up for the kitchen laptop and it's fine in that role.

Although it's tuned quite high (probably 35Hz or so), it does have a 3.5"D port with a huge flare and an internal bend. I thought that was kinda cool at the price.

Logitech "subs" are nothing more than bass modules, very colored bass modules. With no true deep bass extension, almost worthless as a music or even HT sub.

They do OK as low cost putter speakers. Once you hear even a low cost HSU STF you will want to stay far away from mass market sore toys.

These Logitech use a TangBand driver tunes above 30Hz for max impact and have a very peaky response.

As I said earlier, you need to go out and demo some of the real subs both in your upper price range and even well beyond it. Get a taste of some good HT subs and some really good music/HT subs. Go to some of the audio installers shops and ask for demos of subs in the $1k to $3k range. You don't have to buy one, just give them a listen. You can also go to places like Fry's or Magnolias or whatever OK chain is around you. Don't listen to the ones on the floor. Go into the audition rooms. If you feel a little embarrassed by your budget, don't be. We've all been there. And many of us may be there again, soon. You don't have to tell a salesman your true budget. If all you can afford is $100, state that in this thread. There are many members that can direct you to something satisfactory.

If all you want to do is give a little more bottom to your monitors, then get the Logitech. I have a little ported bass module on my computer. I have had it for many years. When I first got it, gaming was a much better experience. But I would never use it for my movie watching or music listening. It just added a deeper voice to the system. I was really impressed with it, until I heard some real subs.

ok i'm willing to spend up to 300pounds on the subwoofer itself however I really struggle on finding decent subwoofers on UK pages.

Can any of you link me up to a decent spec one that for parties?

Oh and i'd prefer if it was a powered subwoofer (saves me on an amp).

You would do well to go shopping and see what is in the stores in the UK, and which of those is near your price range. Once you find something that is close to your price, look on-line for a better price.

Guys I found a decent subwoofer from the UK : http://www.a1-sound.co.uk/product/tannoy-ts-12-active-sub-woofer

This one looks as if it can pump alot of power with 500rms and frequency lows of down to 15hz.

One question: What cable would I use to connect it to these speakers? ... http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/B2031A.aspx

I'd still suggest, like others here, that you go hear different subs. Bring the kind of music you like. I"m not familiar with the UK market, but you might be able to make yourself at least as happy with less expense. If I read you right, you're not necessarily looking for great sit-in-the-room-and-analyze-every-detail-of-the-performance sound. You're looking for good, FUN sound. They're not mutually exclusive, but you might get at least as much if not more fun for less money. You really need to hear for yourself, though.

As far as how to connect, Tannoy likely has (have for persons of the British persuasion) the owner's manual on their website, and you could look at it for connection options.

Best of luck.

ok but do you think that the spec on that sub I linked you up with are decent for a college party?

Want to get a decent one and dont want to be upset with what I buy.

I dunno how I would go and listen to other peoples sub's unless they are in store and even then it would be a clouded judgement as it depends on the size of the store however it would give me a rough idea of what specs good in THA HOOD. lol

I think i'm just gona get this done and purchase the speakers, subwoofer and that RCA cable.
