Usually I buy cables from monoprice as I've been told they put out good products for your money and hdmi is hdmi anyways. There cables are rather bland though, which I don't have a problem with if its hidden behind something like on the back of a television. I like the stuff on my desk to look nice though.

Consequently, I'm looking for a mini-toslink to toslink cable for my Macbook Pro to my stereo receiver. Monoprice has some dirt cheap cables which I bet will function just fine, but they are bland looking, very boring. Is there somewhere I can get a nice looking cable that is of high quality and actually looks nice?

Length?

Monoprice has some that are a step up from the basic ones, but I do not know if they will have a length you need.

Blue Jeans and Binary have some decent looking ones if memory serves. Also I think AudioQuest jackets nearly everything in a cloth braid, and some of those are still in the $40 range.

This one is not your standard black optical cable:

It's got a gray woven wrapping.
It's a little heavy though to have plugged into a laptop. I think you'll wear out the plug on your laptop over time.
I assume you want to output iTunes? If so, have you considered buying an Airport Express and plug it in near your receiver?
BTW, you can get a standard toslink cable; they make little miniplug adaptors that just clip onto the cable end.

Length would be 6ft. I'm looking for a cable that already has a mini-toslink on one end as I would prefer to not use an adapter if possible.

very mac looking

Just ordered two along with a few other things that I've been meaning to get for a while but just haven't. Unfortunately they were out of the toslink to mini toslink adapters so I'll have to get it somewhere else.

I'm wondering if that metal plug along with a toslink to mini toslink adapter would end up being too long and putting too much weight on the input jack though? Maybe I'm just being paranoid though? The cables were cheap enough to experiment at least.

It might just be me, but I've honestly never heard of a jack breaking unless someone handles their gear like it can't break. Under normal use, can anyone chime in to this effect, or is this type of thing isolated (as I suspect?)

I own one Monster cable. It is a mini toslink to normal toslink I bought at the apple store. About $20 if memory serves. Nice and flexible. White. No adapters to mess with. Works fine.

I don't see it on the apple web site any more, but here is a link to amazon

Edit: I did not want to use an adapter since it adds needless bulk
