Setup (all new):
TX-SR606 (Onkyo Reveiver)
BD606 (Onkyo Bluray)
Dish VIP722 (SAT box)
58" Pan Plasma
All connected via HDMI. All of it works (Audio, Video, Decoding, great Picture, etc) but when I switch input to the DVD, I see the receiver try and make the "handshake" with the DVD and it often times out with the "no signal" message on the receiver. I switch back to SAT input and then to DVD and try again. Eventually this works and I get DVD picture and sound. Once the DVD player "syncs" to the receiver, I never get a drop - it's rock solid. Also, I never have an issue with the A/V sync from the SAT receiver over HDMI.
No firmware updates available on either Onkyo piece. I have scoured the manuals for some secret setting and no luck. Also tried Onkyo tech support to no avail.
I find it difficult (but not impossible) to believe two new Onkyo products are incompatible.
I am in the process of swapping out the HDMI cables between the SAT-Receiver and the DVD-Receiver to see if the problem follows the cable, but my hopes are not high.
What else should I consider?
Thanks in advance,
ee
