What do you think would be the best choice out of these two subs.

Which ones because the choices are overwhelming. I also don't want to break the bank.

There are all kinds of goodies for that price range. Your two choices aren't that bad imo. That's not really that big of a room. How high is the ceiling?

How are the neighbors..do you live in a single home? Posters really need to know your whole audio setup, speakers, amp..etc, before recommendations can be made.

Edit..read this thread and post all the info here..it will be helpful in making recommendations.

I have an 8ft ceiling with one wall that opens up to my kitchen. I live in the country so neighbors aren't a problem:p I also have a Yamaha 663 with energy speakers, c300/cc50/cr100.

That's a nice start..you have some pretty good components in your setup. I personally would recommend the Bic's or PA-120, they seem to be pretty popular at your price point. Yeah you could save a little money and get the ED A2-250..which is highly regarded around here, but that's $325 plus shipping.

Take your time, and do lots of research. I'm sure you are going to find something that will make you happy in that price range.

Edit: I checked ED's site and they do have free shipping on the A2-250..so if you want to go a little over $300, that's a nice sub for the money. It's not the best looking sub though.

Yea the PA-120 seems like a great deal. I'm sure this sub will do better then the ESW-10. I'm just not sure the ESW-10 will be enough for my room.

I cant say antyhing about the PA-120 never heard it. But i had 2 of the Acoustic audio RW sub 12"s. They are the bottom of the line for $120 shipped each and they sounded awesome. I bought a Klipsch 12" for $400 and brought it home from best buy hooked it up and instantly returned after 30 minutes. It could not compare in my opinion to the 2 12"s i had. There is a thread or two lurking around here and on the Blu-ray.com forums regarding the output and SQ of the Acoustic audio subs. I would recommend 2 of those 12's or the HD 15".

I see they have the 12"rw sub on ebay for $139, which is a down firing sub. I wonder how that compares to the hd-sub12 they have for $199?

I paid $120 shipped each via the best offer option on their ebay site. I can not do a driect comparison of the two. But lately the general consensus is multiple sub's are better for overall cleaner response than a single better performing sub. So for $40 more i would personally buy 2 of those less expensive sub's and place them in different locations in the room. You could also put them on top of each other or right next to each other which would then give you a higher db output. Its all up to you.

I am new around here, and I am sure many have much more in depth experience with various subs. The Hsu Research subs generally are well regarded, though, and their STF-1 would fit your budget. Might call them.

If you're not uncomfortable with the used route, there are postings here and on other sites. Not sure if board rules allow me to refer to other sites, so I won't.

Which subs did you get?

I got the RW sub 12"s since originally my budget was only $250 for a sub. So i figured why not get two of those instead of one of the HD subs. The downfiring subs are nice because you dont have to worry about anything damaging them. The only reason i ever sold mine was because i wanted to build a much larger sub that could get sub 20hz output. What are you going to use the sub for HT or music??? Either way they sound great i had one right behind each one of my mains. I am considering here next month buying two more and using them for music since my current sub doesnt handle music all that well. But in the end its very hard shopping online and not hearing these products before you spend the money. Its very easy to jump on the band wagon and buy one of the PA-120's or Bic subs that are very popular since everyone seems to be impressed by them. Good luck with your choice and let us know what you decide on.

90% HT
10% Music

I have the ESW-10 right now for my system when I hook it up shortly (must finish wife projects first). I'm not sure if I should give this sub a chance or get something else.

That about how i use my system. Now after having built myself a really nice sub and replaying scenes that impressed me with the acoustic audio's i still appreciate them. Are you wanting it to be just loud or smoother and to blend nicely in the room?? Also how big is the room the sub will be in??

Give that sub a shot but if you have been reading on here at all i almost guarantee you will want more bass lol. Maybe you will only want to add one 12" to it and if you choose the acoustic audio your only out $120. Its really addicting i had one 12" to start then 3 weeks later i had 2. Then about a month after that i built a sub because the SVS subs were too expensive at $800-$1500 a pop.
