I searched as best I could but find nothing in the forums on the Linear SCALER-2-1080P which goes for under $400. Anyone know anything about it?

I believe this unit to be a re branded 'Gefen Home Theater Scaler Plus', maybe that will assist in your search for more information on this unit.

Thanks for pointing me in right direction. Looking at the Gefen's it appears instead to be a rebrand of the successor to the Gefen Home Theater Scaler Plus, which is the Gefen GScaler Pro. This would make the Linear a real bargain - anyone know for sure?

OK, now that I see it doesn't seem to be owned by anyone on AVS, and the people on Gefen's own forum uniformly have problems with it, it no longer seems a bargain. I thought Gefen made good stuff??

Maybe look into the DVDO Edge, slightly more expensive but I am sure you'll be able to find quite a bit more information on it ;)

I agree the Edge for similar money is a much better bet. Often the cheaper stuff hinders performance more than helps it.
