I am trying to hook up a Wii to my HT. I have the Wii going through my Denon 3806 reviever, then via HDMI to my Panasonic AE900 projector. When I had the Wii hooked to the receiver with just a video cable, it worked. When I tried to "upgrade" to component, there is a handshake problem.
I have checked the manuals for all of my components and it seems like it should work. the Wii picture will occasionally show up on the screen, but then goes to blue. I have the settings on the receiver set to video convert over the HDMI.
Why would it send the signal without problem with a single video cable, but not with component? Any help is appreciated.

Part of my thoughts too, but tried the same cable connected directly to a plasma without problems

Sounds like the cable, probably a bandwidth/power issue with the Wii.
I have had this same problem try running HDMI out of Denon reciever to LCD TV Instead If it works Projector and reciever are simi incompatible or compatible however you want to look at it .Only Solution at this point is to change projector or reciever.Good Luckhttp://www.daveshometheater.comHelp Forum

if you can, most people have a dvd player with component outs capability, give that a try using the same cable. Also, I don't mean to imply that you don't have a incompatibility issue with the receiver's conversion to hdmi but you want to rule out cabling as much as possible. HDMI "stuff" has lots going for and against it in the "chain of things"... from levels, timing, impedances, conversions, protocols, etc. Of course, there appears to be lots of posts about various receiver "incompatibilities" in this "chain" with Denon and Onkyo possibly leading the way in some form... :-)

The Wii only outputs in 480p right? Could it be that the Denon can't upgrade the Wii input. Doesn't the 3806 try to upconvert the signal to 1080p?
Found this on the Nintendo site.
What format is your HDMI set to? RGB or YPbPr? Only the latter will make it all the way through, as the Wii uses, unfortunately, an analog video signal.
Your composite audio need to go directly to the surround sound receiver itself, and should not be passed on through the HDMI cable.
