My projector has s video, composite, and vga inputs. It is a pb6100 benq.
My ps3 has composite, component, hdmi output. (dont care about audio... will be doing simple stereo)

anyways, I think it would be best to do component to d-sub(vga) to achieve hd. Is this correct/the best way? can I make the cable on my own? can you guide me in the correct direction?

all help is greatly appreciated. :D:D:D

If your Projector does not have HDMI your next best option is component at 1080i you will have to buy the PS3 multi plug for component.

Hope this help you a bit

there is no component hook up... vga, s video, composite.

While not the cleanest solution, you can get from VGA to component, then a female component by female component adapter to a component PS3 cable, all from monoprice.com. This is about the cheapest and easiest way I can think of doing what you asked.

The 6100 should be able to accept component through the VGA port a simple adaptor from component to vga will work. Just make sure to set it to Y/Pb/Pr in the display menu.

That will connect to the BenQ but remember the PS3 uses a propitiatory video cable so you need the other two parts that I listed. Both can be found at the same site much cheaper than you will find locally.
