So here is what I have.... (trying to do this using only HDMI cables, if possible)

LN40A550 40 inch samsung (3 HDMI)
Samsung DVD/Surround sound combo 1000 watt (Samsung HT-Z310)
Playstation 3

So far I have done this....

1. hooked the ps3 into the tv using an HDMI Cable
2. hooked the DVD/Surround Sound up to tv using HDMI Cable
3. Turned on tv/surround sound and for some reason the Surround sound will not work at all now

On the Surround sound I turned on an option (Sound through HDMI)

When the cable or ps3 is on I hit the options on the surround sound to make it play but it only has the following (AUX 1, AUX 2. input) no settings to access the HDMI

Do i have to activate something on the TV?

Any suggestions to make this work? I am not looking to buy more cables but if possible I wouldnt even mind a quick and dirty method just to get it to work.

I think you are missing a setting in your Samsung all in one unit. I had one of these setups in my motor home and it gave me fits until I broke out the manual. It was something goofy and if I remember correctly I needed to use the remote to get it all working. I don't believe it has anything to do with your cables. What model Samsung do you have?

The HDMI from the PS3 needs to go into the surround sound receiver not the TV.

You can just hook up an optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver as well.

You wont be able to process the HD audio spec but that'll at least get you DD/DTS.

Following THX's advice, depending on your receiver, hook up your PS3's HDMI cable to an input on the receiver and on the ouput, attach a HDMI cable to the TV.

The manual is your friend.
