View Full Version : What in-wall cables to run for wall-mounted HDTV?

Hi folks!
I am planning a setup with a wall-mounted HDTV fed by one of the newer HDMI-switching, upscaling AV receivers and including a media-serving PC (also connected to the receiver via HDMI).
The plan is to run the cables in-wall (3' or so) from a media cabinet below using recessed panels top and bottom. I found some Keystone/Quickport HDMI inserts that should work nicely.
Beyond power and a couple of HDMIs, I am not sure what else I might want to run for this type of setup? Component and S video should not be necessary and audio will be handled by the receiver - HDMI baby!

I will have a single gang Quickport plate to fill and was thinking:

HDMI
HDMI
USB
Cat6

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
Jon

since a computer is involved, you might want to run a VGA cable as well. Might not ever need it, but its there "if and when"

Might want to run DVI instead of VGA. I'm only running HDMI to my TV, it looks like everything is moving that way (even PCs).

Yep, the computer I will use (Mac mini) has mini DVI but not VGA out.
