Hi All,
I'm amazed at the level of knowledge and experience I've seen from this site. Helped very much when I bought my Sammy 42" last year! In the old house it was pretty simple as all components were together and the only thing in the walls were the speakers and signal feed. Now we're building a new home and the living room will be wired for surround as well as the adjacent patio. The new home sales consultant is great but not that knowledgeable on the wiring (and neither am I) and I can't wrap my head around how things will hook up and be controlled.. The model has the CATV/SAT coming into a master J-box in the utility room (home run) with a run going to the living room where the plasma will reside. there's a "split home run" that will be in a closet not terrible close to that living room where components will be housed. That's the part I'm stuck on Trying to figure if thats where the receiver and CATV?SAT boxes go or if they'll be in the living room with the dispplay. If in the closet, how would you control them? Seems like a basic question and once I can wrap around this part I think I'll "get it" thanks in advance for any help and information!

Ultimately, where you put the equipment will be up to you. If there is an RG6 run to the TV area and also the closet, you'll be able to choose where you put the SAT/CBL box and go from there.

If you decide to house everything in the closet, you'll need to run at least a video cable (HDMI, Component, etc.) to the TV. To control the devices in the closet you'll either need something like this (http://www.smarthome.com/8045I/Internal-RF-Adapter-for-Almost-Any-Remote/p.aspx) or an IR extender system.
