Just read a few hours of posts. Even more confused than before.

I have the new Bond - Quantum of Solace Blu-ray which only has DTS-HD Master Audio.

The previous Bond, Casino Royale, has PCM 5.1 Uncompressed and worked great with my setup, which is as follows:

TMT Platinum v3 - Trial version
Vista 32
ATI 4550 via HDMI
Marantz SR8001 - HDMI v 1.2 input / HDMI v 1.1 output

What do I need for DTS-HD Master Audio to work correctly?

Thanks,

Ensure your AVR can accept TrueHD/DTS HD MA etc. ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3
The difference is the deluxe has an additional card for more analog out speakers.

If you only have pci slot available, another version using pci is due out.

He says his Marantz receiver is HDMI 1.2 so it can't support Dolby TrueHD/DTS HD via bitstream. You could still use the Deluxe Xonar so that the audio is not downsampled and output via the analog connectors. If you want HDMI then it would need to decoded in the player and sent to your receiver. This can be up to 7.1 audio but the audio will be downsampled to 48kHz/16 bit

Are you not getting any audio or do you think it could/might be better?

salacious - I get no audio at all on the DTS-HD Master Audio.

I fiigured it would downsample, but it's deader than a popcorn fart.

TMT3 trial version doesn't include Dolby license payment, so no DTS-MA. What do you expect for free?

You can rip to MKV with FLAC audio if you know how to do that.

That's strange. I can hear DTS and DTS-HD Master Audio through HD 4xxx HDMI with TMT3 Trial (of course the receiver gets decoded multichannel 16bit/48kHz LPCM). Did you select the correct audio track? You should select "5.1 Channel" or "7.1 Channel" in Audio Output mode. "HDMI" is intended for bitstreaming (you still get DTS core from DTS-HD MA with Radeon HD 4xxx though).

Hi Re
Can you clear something up for me? if the Mobo has 7.1 onboard Audio, plus a ATI 4850 GPU output via DVI adaptor to HDMI both will be connected to a AV Pre-Amp with all the latest 'High def' in and outs why do I need another piece of suggested hard ware such as the ASUS ZONAR HDMI 1.3?

Dolby and DTS are two different companies. I know the trial doesn't include a Dolby license but I believe that it does include DTS.

If playback software follows the rules then it isn't allowed to output audio above 48kHz/16bit over an unprotected path to a receiver. You can get various audio tracks with 24bit depth and even with sample rates of 96kHz or192kHz. These would be downsampled in the software. If you use the Xonar with TMT you can get audio which isn't downsampled or you can send audio in the native bitstream to you receiver so it does the decoding. At the moment this is the only card that can bitstream the new highbistream codecs (Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD) to your receiver.

You do have some ways of not using the Xonar card and avoiding downsampling
Use TMT v125 or earlier
Use the Arcsoft directshow filters with MPC-HC or similar
Convert the Blu-Ray files to MKV with FLAC audio
