I havent been on here in sometime...not since i got my front projection theater up and running(busy watching movies) anyways now i need a new tv for the living room, thinking somewhere around 50''no bigger then 55'' no preference for plasma or lcd(kinda bright room) or make. sounds easy right? well with all of the option i dont really know what everything means, just looking to spend around $2000. so any help from you guys would be helpfull, everyone on here has already helped me out a ton for my theater and bar suggestions :) thanks
if you can get a pioneer or a pioneer elite then thats the best that you can get out there. they are hard to find now though. beyond a pioneer i would get a pansonic. but i would first focus on a pioneer an elite is a little bit more out of your budget but most certainly worth it.

Look at the Pioneer 5020 at best buy right around your budget and very well regarded.
Its $700 more for the elite:confused: is that too much? then look into the non elite the pioneer PDP-5020 that should be on sale often around the $2,000-2,200 spot.
Either way i would go for pioneer then panasonic as i mentioned earlier

man, i hadn't read that review yet.
I had no idea the g10 could be so bright.
litsten to this quote:
"With the contrast control set to 100% and the picture control set to Vivid, the G10 produced a retina searing maximum brightness of 92.2 ft lamberts (using the same window pattern). This is the highest level we’ve measured on any plasma and is comparable to many LCD models. Viewing HD content with the contrast control maxed out confirmed the G10 is capable of producing an image so intense, it’s uncomfortably bright.
In the past, LCDs were the only recommended flat panel technology for high ambient light environments, not any more. This display can provide high image brightness along superb motion resolution, wide viewing angles and excellent color"
IMO this pretty much eliminates ANY reason to buy an LCD over this plasma. Perfect 1080 lines motion, perfect viewing angles, deeeeeep blacks, super bright, etc.etc.etc.
All it needs is a top-notch processor and some Kuro blacks, and I have found my new TV. :)

Wow Chad, you ain't just whist'lin Dixie! That new Panny rocks! No more lame ass excuses for buying those defective LCD's unless you're into Porky Pig & Woody Woodpecker. Great review.
