I am looking to move up from my TH-50PH9UK to a 58" PDP. I would like to go with a 1080p PDP but the cost of PF11UK is about a $1000.00 more than the PZ800U. My viewing distance is about 8' and I have no need for speakers or a tuner. Most of my viewing is either HD cable or Bluray discs. I have had two Panny commercial PDPs and I have had no problems with either the 50" or the 42" I had owned.

My questions are why is the PF11UK so much more expensive than the PZ800U? Is there that much of a difference in PQ between these to PDPs? I very much like the clean bezel of the PF11UK but to pay $1000.00 more for looks alone is not worth it IMO. But if there is a definite PQ difference then I could see spending the additional money. I had thought about the TH-58PH10UK but I think I will regret not going with a 1080p PDP. I see mention of the new 58" Samsung PDPs but I have had such good luck with the Panasonics I am inclined to change brands.

Any thoughts or advice on the above questions would be appreciated:).

gswalllen, the links you posted demostrate the $1000+ difference quite clearly.

Bill Mac, if I were you, I would very strongly consider the Pioneer KRP-600M. This is the absolute best deal out there right now. Not quite as cheap as the 58" 800U, but much cheaper than the 58" 11UK. Plus, it is probably a better overall display than the Panasonic, and is also a bit larger. You don't get the modular inputs of the Panasonic, but you get two HDMI, and one each of DVI, component, VGA, and composite.

gw,

Actually the price in the Amazon link for the PF11UK is 3839.49 and the PZ800U is $2477.77 after you click on the "see price" tab. So that is well over $1k more like $1300.00+.

mkoesel,

I will take a look at the KRP-600M.
