probably not the right section??? anyways, my before and after of wall mounting a 55" hitachi plasma (130 lbs.) on steel studs.
Thought it would be interesting for those who think about doing it on steel studs as well...
used 4' * 2' plywood with about 5 toggle bolts (3/8" * 4"). Then a bunch of lag bolts and one more toggle bolt to hold the mount into the plywood.
by the way, the 55hds69 hitachi plasma is awesome...(but, keep in mind, garbage in = garbage out)...when I plug in my Canon HF100 HD camcorder and play HD recordings on this plasma...it's truly AMAZING. Otherwise, HDTV (high def channels are great as well).
I'm not the best picture taker...these are from Canon SD1100...tried my best.

cool, yup, basically that's why I posted...some have skipped the plywood and toggled directly to the steel studs...but, I have little kids running around and the extra layer just makes me feel a little better.

I'm not up on construction, but how does adding the wood help anything? The wood is toggled to the studs. Then the mount is lagged to the wood. It's the same amount of weight pulling on the toggles is it not?

when you toggle just to the steel studs...then each stud is on it's own. if the left one bends then the whole left side collapses. when you plywood it, i screwed it into 4 studs (16" apart)...so then:
1. your screws are twisting into solid wood
2. all four steel studs have to collapse (weight is distributed through four studs).
3. there's more to it...i'm just not sure how to explain it.

good pics...you did fine..
btw, i am assuming your verified that toggle-wings are resting against the studs, not the sheetrock.
