I need some help finding a manual. I have looked on the Sony site and can't find a manual for my Sony VPL-VW40. Anyone have any sources for this manual? I Picked up the VW40 open box today at Best Buy ($1500) and after only a few hours of watching I'm very happy. I'm coming from the CRT world and while the Blacks are not there everything else is great and I can live with the Blacks levels from this Pj I think.

Since it was open box all I got was the PJ and remote, can someone tell me what else came in the box?

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks! Got the manual.

OK, can someone tell me what was in the box and is there a convergence adjustment on the VW40?

Thanks.

A list of what is in the box is on page 11 of the manual.

As far as convergence adjustments, I have never seen an LCD projector with that option. Maybe on some high end units.

Any possible adjustments would be mechanical, meaning that the projector is opened and the panels are adjusted with tiny screws while the projector is running. But, not many LCD projectors can do this. Most have LCD panels that are permanently fixed to the prism and aligned at the factory.

Thanks! Got the manual.

Sheridan1952,

The VW40 is not LCD (as we normally think of it) but Sony's version of LCoS and it is 3 chip so there has to be convergence and it is most likely electronic, not mechanical. Now is it accessible to the consumer, that is the big question. But thanks anyway for the info and the location of the box contents. the one thing I am missing I need is the setup CD that I didn't get.

Okay, don't know where I got the idea it was LCD. Sorry.

I did run across this "conversation"... http://forum-display.com/discussion/13050/3/just-found-an-official-sony-link-with-vplvw40-info/

And other references and reviews I've found all say the same thing, the 40 is a 60 without the convergence features. Doesn't sound like good news for you. Sorry.
