a lightning strike took out the mobo sound and video on the pc and burned clean through
one of the heating elements in the oven. restored pc sound and video with cards but pj says no signal when attempting to input pc through svga, s-video, and hdmi. same thing happens with old pc. all the inputs work fine with dvd player and vcr. wtf?! any ideas? it's a big drag having no big screen pc!

What input are you using with the VCR and DVD player? Probably standard video?
Since two different pcs are having the same issue, and if connecting a standard monitor to either pc works, then I would have to say that the circuitry in the projector that is relevant to those inputs is fried.
Which, now that I think about it, makes sense. If the two were connected when this event occurred, then when the lightning took out the video section of your pc, it also traveled along the VGA cable from the pc to the projector and "poof".
yeah it was hooked up via vga but the new card outputs hdmi and svideo as well
and those inputs say no signal with pc but work fine with dvd player and vcr. weird.

Not that unusual, the initial circuit pathways are different. When the strike occurred, it only took out that which was directly connected. Just as your pc was mostly functional except for the output section. The rest is, apparently, okay. Unfortunately, it's not going to be so easy with your projector. The input assy will have to be replaced. Not a difficult process, but parts availability may be an issue.
ok sounds doable, any assistance in locating the assembly would be appreciated.

Not sure I can be of any help there. I do have a source for a lot of parts, but they don't list that particular assy. So I would need the part # so they can do a search.
Now I am assuming that the input section is a separate assy from the main board. At least it is in every projector I've dealt with. If it isn't, the cost of the main board is expensive and you might as well replace the projector.
well i found a hc1600 w/o lamp for pretty cheap, could try to swap the inputs.
i have an old lamp that would fit it so could just use that for the pc.
the hd1000 works fine with the dvd player hdmi, it's just a hassle burning rw discs
to watch films instead of playing them off the hard drive. and i do miss having avs on the 12 foot screen.

I can't say for sure, but there appear to be enough similarities that it might be the same part. It's your call on that. Good luck.
Before you do that, check and compare the input areas to see if they are identical. They have to be a physical match to work. There could be minor differences between the two that could negate your plan.
yep it's the same, woohoo!
