I have a 970 connected via component through a JVC receiver to a Mitsubishi HC1500 projector. Quite often when I turn everything on the Oppo and the projector do not sync. Powering off the Oppo and back on fixes it. Also, switching output resolutions via the HDMI button fixes it.

The Oppo is set for 720p which is the native resolution of the projector. I have tried delaying the power on of the Oppo for up to 15 seconds but still get the problem on occasion. I have a Starchoice receiver connected in the same manner, to another input on the JVC, and it has no sync problems at all.

I have tried this configuration with the production firmware and the modified upconverting firmware, same problem.

I am using a Harmony remote to control all this so I am in need of a solution that can be automated.

Any ideas? Thanks.

If you change inputs away from then back to the DV-970HD on the receiver, does this restore the HDMI synchronization?

Sorry for the delay in responding. I can only test once or twice a day as I must wait until I want to actually use the system. Turning on the projector for short periods is not good for the lamp.

After 2 days the problem showed up again. During this period the system was used probably 3 times. On the 4th attempt the Oppo and projector did not sync. Switching inputs on the projector did not correct the problem. I still had to cycle through the HDMI resolutions to get it back.

Note: when I say cycle I mean I must switch to a different resolution. Once switched I get a picture. I then cycle to 720p for viewing.

Have you tried another HDMI cable, preferably a shorter one, to confirm that the issue is not related to data dropoff?

I am using component video. My satellite receiver seems to work fine in this same configuration.
