Let me qualify myself before my post...

I already have a functional projector but I thought it might be interesting to try this out. I don't want to build any of the DIY PJ's posted around here and I 'get' that projector bulbs are not the same as the headlamps in my car etc etc...

All that said, I dragged home a well used DLP projector with the bulb missing and was wondering is there was *any* way to fake it to thinking there was a proper bulb and using a bulb of any other kind. Of course, as this thing was someone else's junk and I already have a working setup, I'm not going to spend any money on it, I just hate to see something go to waste because the bulb is spent.

Should I toss it back in the bin or is there anything I should try?

What PJ is it? Make and model number would be helpful to know.

some guy rigged up a xenon headlight bulb and got it working, pretty impressive.
the thread is here someplace, might be archived by now.

It's an HP vp6310, it's a native 800x600 DLP...

Thanks, I'll try searching for that thread.

I tried this on a infocus IN 72 recently you just need to solder 2 ohm resistor on top of heat sensor for lamp and you have to short eca controller wire ,hp may be similar.
