I have a 2 year old HLS-5679W that has had capacitors on main power board replaced, as heavily discussed in the Owners Thread. Had been working well for over 6 months.
Now, it has a picture failure when I turn it on. Sound and power work fine, but the picture looks like the link below.
Is this the LED engine that has now gone bad?
Any advise would help!
On the bulb Sammy dlps that screen indicates a dmd board failure, the main system board. May be the same for the led tvs.

Hmmm... I can get a DMD board for it:

So this failure is common?
It's not really common. I have a service manual for an older tv than yours, the HLR, that is a bulb based dlp. It shows what happens to the screen when you have a dmd board failure, and one of the screens is a "bee hive" pattern. Tho not exactly what you show, it's similar. And yours is LCD, so there may be differences in problem solutions.
Therefore that was my guess. But you should probably find the owner's thread about your tv on this forum and go thru that before buying a replacement part. My suggestion is my best guess, not a positive solution.

I have had other verification that it may be the main board itself. I removed the main board assembly, checked all the wire connections, and blew the dust off the thing. It seemed to work again for a moment, and then stopped again, so I will try replacing that part and see what happens.
I also tried connecting the DVI cable out of the main board up to another source, to see if it would produce the same picture, but it doesn't send a signal that my projector or monitor can interpret.

Does the Tv respond to the remote?
Does it have audio?
Does it stay on or go into shutdown?
Can you change inputs?
Can you see osd or menu?
Diagnosis depends on these answers, but my best guess is also DMD.
