I have a 60" XBR2, bought June of 2007. About six months ago, I noticed that when I have the DRC on (to either mode), I get a blue ghosting/snow effect on the picture. This came on around the time I happened to switch to cable from satellite, so I naively chalked it up to something with the input stream and just kept the DRC set to off.
But I've noticed recently whenever I have a 1080p HDMI connection (for example, from my PS3) the whites turn into a grey with a flickering to them. This happens when I connect my laptop to the TV as well, and it's more distracting there. At first it wasn't consistent (i.e it happened sometimes, but not all the time), but now it's consistent. If I change my PS3 settings to use 1080i over HDMI, the problem does NOT occur.
I've played around with the settings, tried different cables and different inputs in the TV, but it seems to be consistent. I'd like to hook my laptop up via HDMI to watch movies, but this particular issue is so distracting that it's unwatchable.
Any ideas? It doesn't sound like any optical block problem that I've seen posted, but if it is a problem I hope it's related to that so it could possibly be fixed under warranty.
I've uploaded a Youtube video, but the uploaded quality makes it such that it might be difficult to see (prepend with youtube.com .. I can't seem to post URLs yet):
