After dealing with numerous store managers and calling BB's 888 number, I have been nothing but disgusted by their flagrant disregard for their own pricematching policy.
I recently tried to price match an lcd on sale at a nearby frys. Long story short, I was told by two local managers they would not pricematch it because it was below their cost. I called corporate and they fed my a c*ck and bull story about the frys store being out of my marketplace. It's 20 miles from my house, the best buy is 7 miles.
This was less than a week after the local news ran a story showing the blatant violations of BestBuy's pricematching policy and articles likes these:

I would just purchase tv from Frys and move on. From what I've read here at AVS, BB is quite shady when it comes to price-matching. I plan on purchasing a 50-58" plasma soon and BB won't be on my potential vendor list!

I did. I am just amazed how flagrant they are. They might as well just say they don't price match and be done with it.
I would like to hear other people's experiences. I am sure there are some great stores with honest managers.

I've had mixed results with BB price matching,it depends on who you talk to at the store. Now I just go to Amazon.com or Pricegrabber.com to find the best deal.If you're lucky to live by a Fry's then they have some good deals also.

This may be a little biased since I work for a smaller AV retailer, but here in Canada we have to deal with two evils... A few years ago Best Buy bought out a local company called Futureshop. Since then both the business practice of Futureshop and a flourishing Best Buy have plagued us consumers with a rather "sketchy" service. Now there are many exceptions to this rule as there are some FS/BB Markets that have proven to offer a satisfactory service(My girlfriend worked for a Futureshop in a smaller/isolated city, that had wonderful staff and service), but overall I feel that there is not a consistant delivery of service.
Both of these big box stores have an identical pricematching policy. And with my own experience they have done as good a job as any other store here in Canada with regards to price matching. Unfortunately though, BB and FS have far more exclusive models than any other retailer. This allows them to keep higher profit margins and reduce the need to have competitive sales.
The biggest problem that is faced with these stores is the overall customer service. Many times I will wonder into the store and will need assistance finding something, only to be blatantly ignored by all of the floor associates. When you ask them to check the inventory, their reaction is what one would expect if you were to ask them to climb mount Everest. I often feel like I am being a "burden" to them as I browse their products.
Somewhat on the topic of pricematching... On December 28th, 2007 I was shopping for an XBOX 360, because I saw an ad that was boxing week sale promoting a XBOX 360 Premium bundled with Halo 3. I thought "Great, i'm going to pick that up!" But upon arrival I discovered that the 360 bundle only applied to a discontinued sku (360 without HDMI). I was pretty upset until I saw an entire stack of BRAND NEW 360 Premiums with an advertisement right on top of them that described the product being bundled with Halo 3. I actually went to a manager and spoke to him about this being an advertised product discrepancy and pleaded with him to give me the bundle price on the new 360 Premium, which he denied me. I exclaimed that it was rediculous that they can weasel this advertisement and screw people into purchasing an older product, even while they can't even face/merchandise their products properly during the busiest time of the year! I was rather upset over the situation, so I went to the local EB Games and paid for a new 360 premium and full price for a copy of Halo 3. I tend to boycott FS and BB as much as possible unless they are the only source for a particular product i'm looking for.

Not only has BB always priced matched for me, but over the last 8 years or so, I've had about an 80% success rate getting them to price match internet vendors and stores out of the market place.

They tried hard to screw me out of a price match and I insisted in discussing it with a manager who listened to my story and then promptly credited me the difference. The Fry's story is very common with them and an excuse they like to use as in my mind anything that's within reasonable driving distance should qualify for a price match. I had to work really hard at a Magnolia a couple years ago to get them to price match Fry's and they finally did it after telling me how much money they were going to lose and it took me reminding them how much money I had spent there over the years before they did it. Also got them to come down another $100.00 a month later when Fry's lowered the price. :D
