It plays PAL automatically, but you will want to do a couple things:

(1) Set it to be "all-region":

SETUP

SETUP

This setting is permanent (until you upgrade firmware; you'll have to redo it then).

(2) Set the output frame rate to match your display:

If your display accepts only 60hz, set the player to NTSC
If it accepts both 50hz and 60hz, set the player to MULTI


You can test whether your display accepts 50hz by setting the player to PAL and playing any disc. If you get an image then it does accept 50hz and you can leave it at MULTI.

This is an optional step but if the display accepts 50hz you want to take advantage of it when playing PAL.

The P/N button on the remote cycles between NTSC, PAL and Multi. I forget if this is a permanent change. Isn't there a 5th tab in the Setup which is available when the tray is ejected?

The P/N button is only for that session.

Press Eject then the Setup button. Go to the 5th Tabe (Preference Setup) and change TV from "NTSC" to "Auto".
